Of wills and ways

I find the new season of So You Think You Can Dance really quite an inspiration. In last night's auditions, a girl who got through to the Vegas level had a prosthetic arm, but the way she danced one wouldn't have known it!

Another young man had only 8 months prior nearly lost his life, and lost most of one leg. Even so his love of dance was so iron-cast that after having a metal prosthetic leg fitted in, he practiced and walked and he got that metal leg to shimmy and shake at will.

A third participant... a large, average American girl, had all the energy, enthusiasm and moves to get herself a ticket to Vegas. Nigel one of the judges and producers said to her rather simply that she is an inspiration. The girl could not keep from leaping and bounding all over the place from sheer joy.

It just goes to show what we already know... if you have the will, iron will, will that can nearly move mountains... the way has to relent.

Chasing a dream...

So i finally took the plunge. Well not *the plunge* as in marriage, but have started working on a dream which was always kept for "someday".

So here goes. This is to announce an initiative in wellness via dance which I've undertaken. Do take a moment to read below and send it along to friends/ family who you believe may benefit from it. And if you have any ideas/ queries/ suggestions/ observations to share, I'm all ears.

Love and light,

Meera

WHY:

About Contemporary Dance:

Contemporary Dance can be conceived as a new way of thinking about dance today. A form of expression through movement that works with memory, experience and imagination. The emphasis of contemporary dance is on:

+ Originality

+ Innovation

+ Creativity

+ Interdisciplinarity

+ Exciting

Contemporary dance engages with daily concerns, issues and experiences and
offers immense possibilities of integrating technology in dance. It goes beyond the
narrative form of expression and becomes a total sensory experience for the audience,
a visual poetry of sorts.

Internationally, contemporary dance is the fastest growing art form in
countries like the UK. In India too, it is a niche form of expression that
is finding an increasing number of patrons and audiences.

Come explore and express your energy.

In love with this track

Edge Of The Ocean

- by IVY (Grey's Anatomy soundtrack)

There's a place I dream about
Where the sun never goes out.
And the sky is deep and blue.
Won't you take me there with you.

Ohhh, we can begin again.
Shed our skin, let the sun shine in.
At the edge of the ocean
We can start over again.

There's a world I've always known
Somewhere far away from home.
When I close my eyes I see
All the space and mystery.

Ohhh, we can begin again.
Shed our skin, let the sun shine in.
At the edge of the ocean
We can start over again.

The Mermaid's Money + Fitness Mix

My gal pal Diniz recently had me interviewed for a story on the cost of fitness in our times. The photo in the article is a self-portrait taken sometime last November.

And i'll look like less of a sucker if you also read this story alongside. hehe...

More later.
